Big Update: Jeff Hardy Reportedly Tells WWE He's Leaving

According to a new report from PWInsider.com, Jeff Hardy has told WWE officials that he is leaving the company after the SummerSlam PPV. The reason he is citing is "scheduling conflicts," as he no longer wants to work as many dates for WWE as the company is requiring, and he wants a break from the road and time to explore other interests. The WWE creative team has been informed to scrap any future plans that may have included Jeff Hardy and immediately begin working on a story line return for The Undertaker. WWE plans to use 'Taker to fill the void that Hardy will create.

WWE announced the release of Eugene on Friday.

A statement posted on WWE.com read: "WWE has come to terms on the release of WWE Superstar Eugene as of August 14, 2009. We wish Eugene the best in all future endeavors."

Some wrestling websites had reported that Nick Dinsmore, 33, the man behind the Eugene character, was taking up a full-time job with Florida Championship Wrestling - WWE's developmental group in Tampa.

However, SunSport can confirm that Dinsmore was fully released from his contract.

The Eugene character debuted in 2004 as the simpleton nephew of then-Raw General Manager Eric Bischoff.

Eugene enjoyed a memorable feud with Jonathon Coachman, who tried to banish him, only to be stopped by Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson. During a similar scenario at Wrestlemania 21, Hulk Hogan came to his rescue, against Muhammed Hassan and Daivari.

Dinsmore was suspended for a drug infraction in November 2005. He passed out in a hotel lobby during an overseas tour in Manchester and later admitted to using a large dose of muscle relaxers and pain pills.

Following a stay in rehab he returned in January 2006 and was mostly used as comic relief in backstage segments. In September 2007, Dinsmore was fired after failing a second drug test.

He signed back with the company in July and made his return to WWE TV on Raw this past Monday. He lost a Contract on a Pole match to The Calgary Kid. After his loss, The Kid removed his mask to reveal himself to be The Miz.

Former WWE star and Olympic gold medalist arrested

Current TNA wrestling champion, former WWE superstar and Olympic gold medalist Kurt Angle was arrested early this morning according to PWInsider.com. Angle was arrested after his former girlfriend TNA performer Rhaka Khan called the police and accused Angle of stalking her.
PWInsider.com also reports that when arrested, Angle was charged with possession of HGH, driving with a suspended license and breaking an order of restraint.

Angle has also been the source of internet gossip as it has been stated on several sites that Angle’s ex-wife Karen, moved in with TNA wrestling head of creative Jeff Jarrett.

Angle won the Olympic gold medal in freestyle wrestling at the 1996 Olympics and two years later joined the WWE.

Angle was granted a release from the WWE in 2006 while dealing with personal issues as well as an addiction to pain killers. He is scheduled to appear at TNA’s Hard Justice PPV Sunday night. It is unclear if his arrest will interfere with his scheduled appearance.

On Raw last Monday, after Donald Trump was revealed as the new owner of the flagship WWE program, he made two massive announcements. First, he declared that this Monday’s episode, for the first-time ever, would be completely commercial-free. Then, to the delight of No. 1 Contender Triple H, “The Donald” announced that Randy Orton would defend his WWE Championship before The Bash, in a Last Man Standing Match on the very next Raw.

Needless to say, Orton was less than enthused that he would meet his rival in this brutal match proviso (stipulating that victory is declared only when one’s opponent fails to get to their feet by the count of 10). Most Superstars would feel a sense of trepidation going into a contest that rewards ring warriors for beating their opponents senseless. For The Viper, however, the anxiety must be particularly more acute, given the circumstances surrounding the previous time he faced The Game in a Last Man Standing Match for the WWE Title.

In June 2008, at One Night Stand (now known as Extreme Rules), the two bitter rivals clashed with the WWE Championship hanging in the balance. But Orton lost more than a chance at the coveted WWE Title that night, as Triple H reversed an ill-timed RKO to hurl his nemesis to the outside floor, shattering his collarbone before clobbering The Viper with The Game’s trademark sledgehammer. As evidenced by Orton’s subsequent months-long recovery period and absence from the ring, a Last Man Standing Match isn’t just devastating – it’s career-threatening.
